Real Food for Virtual Shoppers

Orlando, Fla.–based Internet shopping portal CheapBuy Shopping Channels opened a new food court, where online shoppers at one of CheapBuy’s 1,000 stores can order food online for delivery at home. The site, which launched in January, bills itself as a virtual shopping mall. Among the company’s partner stores are Macy’s, Lands’ End, Luck Jeans, Starbucks and Best Buy. Since opening, visitors have asked for a food court, said Chief Operating Officer Bert L. Bill. While the queries might have been made in jest, Bill said the company began looking into the possibilities. CheapBuy is currently negotiating with a national pizza chain that will take orders online and deliver to CheapBuy’s customers while they shop.
