JCPenney Expands in Inland Empire

JCPenney has signed a lease to occupy a 104,000-square-foot store at Rancho del Chino, a $90 million shopping center under development in Chino, Calif.

The center is located at Ramona Avenue and Chino Hills Parkway in California’s Inland Empire. Irvine, Calif.–based Panattoni Development Co. is developing the 42-acre project, which will include a Home Depot and a home-electronics retailer as well as multi-use retail and entertainment space.

Home Depot is buying nine acres of land from the developer and will build a 106,000-square-foot store along with a 35,000-square-footgarden center and another 40,000 square feet of retail space, all slated to open in January 2008. The JCPenney store will open on Oct. 5, 2008.

Panattoni also has an option on 19 acres north of the site and plans to build about 328,000 square feet of office and light industrial space.

JCPenney operated more than 1,000 stores in the United States and Puerto Rico. In the Inland Empire, it has stores at Victoria Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga, Riverside, Ontario and Montclair. For leasing information, call (213) 532-3262 or e-mail bbauman@colliersseeley.com. —Robert McAllister
