Jacquelyne Love Bella Mar Swim Spring '08

Jacquelyne Love made a splash in Miami with the debut of her Bella Mar Swim and E Label collections. The ready-to-wear–turned–swim designer opened Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Miami Swim on July 10 with a fashion show and live concert performed by hubby Mike Love and The Beach Boys. John Stamos made a guest appearance accompanying the iconic surf band. Love said her “Kokomo” collection was inspired by her husband’s music, the colors of Lake Tahoe and Raquel Welch in the feature film “One Million Years B.C.” The show was held poolside at The Raleigh hotel, where models navigated a shallow walkway right in the pool. The show premiered the debut of Love’s organic swim collection in cute gingham prints, which incorporated smocking to allow for stretch. The collection ran the gamut from feminine lingerie-inspired swimwear to retro beachwear and sexy styles in exotic snake prints. Details were key for Love. Suits in soft romantic shades of coral and brown featured delicate embroidery and heart-shaped hardware. A black asymmetrical ruched one-piece had a croc strap, and large stones were strung together on crocheted strings on a black monokini. “I think swimwear is very intimate, just as intimate as the lingerie you wear,” said Love. “I think it should be very special.” —N.
