P.G.D. Style

Melissa Biggs started her Los Angeles–based company, P.G.D. Style, to satisfy her obsessive desire for the perfect T-shirt.

“I had been on the hunt for the perfect T-shirt for the past 10 years,” said Biggs, a former model. “I had closets full of stuff, and I was never satisfied with anything.”

Along the way to realizing the T-shirt of her dreams, Biggs was diagnosed with alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, a hereditary disease that can be fatal if left untreated. Those with the disease have trouble breathing and can end up with emphysema or liver damage.

Now Biggs views her premium T-shirt business with a sense of purpose—to raise money for The Caring Voice Coalition, a nonprofit organization that helps Biggs and others pay for the costly medical treatments required to combat the disease.

“Instead of just having a little company where I could support my daughter as a single woman in L.A., now I feel that I’m going to use [my T-shirts] as the vehicle to raise awareness about the disease,” said Biggs, who plans to donate a portion of each T-shirt sale to the coalition.

Biggs designed her basic T-shirt styles, made of Supima cotton, with feminine touches, such as a hugging hourglass fit, a longer torso length and clean, finished edges.

In addition to the basics offered every season, P.G.D. includes a selection of cute baby doll–shaped tops, easy dresses and casual pants.

Wholesale prices range from $25 for a Supima cotton basic tee to $80 for a Modal halter dress. For more information, call (310) 828-0456.
