Trademark Decision for True Religion

Los Angeles–based premium-denim lifestyle manufacturer True Religion won a trademark dispute against denim maker Triple S. Productions Inc. regarding the stylized “U” design on the back pocket of True Religion Jeans, according to Los Angeles law firm Christie, Parker & Hale LLP, which represented True Religion in the suit. In addition to the back-pocket design, the decision protected True Religion’s “rainbow-colored and rotational stitching.” A consent judgment was signed by both companies, according to the law firm. The judgment bars Triple S. from “making unauthorized use of this intellectual property in its products.” Triple S. is also required to reimburse True Religion’s parent company, Guru Denim Inc., for all legal fees associated with the dispute. Christie, Parker & Hale has represented several denim clients in the past, including Guess? Inc., AG-Adriano Goldschmied LLC and Lucky Brand jeans (prior to acquisition by Liz Claiborne Inc.). The company also represents Patagonia and Volcom.
