Cardona Joins Rock & Republic
Designer David Cardona has joined premium-denim maker Rock & Republic as vice president of design, a spokesperson at the Culver City, Calif.–based company confirmed. Cardona, who designed his own high-end line and has designed for Italian fashion house Cerruti and Los Angeles–based Richard Tyler, was most recently head of design for Bebe’s Collection Bebe line.
Rock & Republic has made strides out of the denim market with the addition in 2006 of Tailor Made, a collection of high-end sportswear. The addition of Cardona, who is known for his intricate leather pieces and chic contemporary designs, is another step in that direction.
Cardona, Michael Ball, founder and creative director of Rock & Republic, and Andrea Bernholtz, the brand’s president, were traveling in Hong Kong at press time and unavailable for comment.—Erin Barajas
