Fund-raiser for Show Pony's Buzzelli

Friends of Kime Buzzelli, the artist/owner of the Show Pony boutique and gallery in Los Angeles’ Echo Park neighborhood, are rallying around her to raise funds for a much-needed operation. A large tumor has been found growing in Buzzelli’s stomach, and the life-saving surgery it requires isn’t fully covered by her insurance. In response, Los Angeles’ local music and fashion communities are planning a bevy of fund-raisers to help pay for the surgery.

On Oct. 18, local bands Lavender Diamond, The Long Lost, Winter Flowers, Animal Magik and Blank Blue, along with DJs from Dublab (www.dublab.com), will perform at a “We Love Kime Buzzelli” benefit concert at The Echo club in Los Angeles. Tickets to the event are being sold for a minimum donation of $10 per person. Hit + Run, makers of art-driven T-shirts, will be screen-printing T-shirts at the event.

Paper magazine, which returns to Los Angeles in November for its annual Paper Projects event, will host a 24-hour pop-up shop here Nov. 9–10. A portion of the shop’s proceeds will be donated to Buzzelli’s medical expenses.

Individuals wanting to make a personal donation may do so through PayPal. For more information, please e-mail showpony@earthlink.net. An eBay store featuring donations from friends and fashion brands is being created. Designers interested in donating goods for the auction should contact Show Pony at (213) 482-7676. —Erin Barajas
