L.A. Fashion Week Spring '08: Bohemian Society

Bohemian Society designer Victor Wilde dubbed his Spring ’08 collection “Violent Playground” and closed the first night of the BoxEight shows on Oct. 11 with a late-night presentation.

The night owls in the audience included Doris Raymond, owner of vintage couture boutique The Way We Wore, who was there to see how Wilde has reimagined a few pieces he purchased as her store.

The designer opened with a reworked vintage piece dubbed “Bosslady,” a cregrave;me silk beaded ’80s-era blouson dress with an open back and matching legwarmers.

The rest of the tightly edited show included tailored pieces for men and women in stark white accented with red. Wilde showed crisp cutaway jackets and vests for women that dipped in the back to reveal a red lining. For men, there were white cardigans with back zippers—including an asymmetrical style that gave a biker look to the varsity-style sweater. Other men’s styles includes a blazer edged in silver zipper teeth with a back yoke in a bandanna print and a chef’s jacket left open to reveal red script on the inside placket.

Both men’s and women’s styles were layered over printed tees, and many pieces featured the label’s lightning bolt motif.

Wilde stuck with the white palette until the finale, closing the show with a black blazer worn with black leather shorts trimmed in red. —Alison A. Nieder
