Vineyard Vines Teams With CGS/Blue Cherry

Martha’s Vineyard, Mass.–based apparel company Vineyard Vines has upgraded its information-technology systems with the BlueCherry enterprise suite, developed by New York–based Computer Generated Solutions Inc.

Vineyard Vines, launched in 1998 by brothers Shep and Ian Murray, has grown dramatically since its inception. It’s known for its extensive line of neckwear but has expanded into sportswear, dress shirts and outerwear over the years.

To handle growth, the company looked to software to help manage and gain more control over its supply chain. Vice President Mike Gaumer said the company was looking for software with robust functionality and flexibility to support the company’s expanded distribution capabilities and impending growth.

The company evaluated several systems and settled on BlueCherry because of its apparel-industry domain expertise as well as the company’s level of commitment to its customers’ success, Gaumer said. “As we continue to expand both our retail and online operations, we look to BlueCherry’s integrated and flexible solutions to help us automate our processes and support our rapid growth,” he said.

Paul Magel, senior vice president of application solutions for CGS, said Vineyard’s commitment includes the BlueCherry enterprise suite as well as PLM, EDI and Microsoft Dynamics SL financials and integration. Within the suite are modules to manage production, warehousing, shop-floor operations and analytics. The company is a Microsoft Gold Partner, which gives it faster access to service as well as products and beta testing. For more information, visit www.cgsinc.com.—Robert McAllister
