Kate Spade, Marciano to Join Nordstrom at The Oaks' Opening

Guess? Inc.’s new contemporary concept, Marciano; Kate Spade; and 25 other specialty retailers have signed leases to take space at The Oaks shopping center in Thousand Oaks, Calif., whose owner, Santa Monica, Calif.–based Macerich Co., is putting the finishing touches on a two-year, 250,000-square-foot expansion project.

New stores will open from May through September, when the center’s new anchor, Nordstrom, opens a 138,000-square-foot unit.

The openings will feature several firsts for Ventura County. Personal-care boutique Fruits and Passions will be the Canadian retailer’s first foray into the U.S. market. The Kate Spade and Marciano boutiques will also be new, as will tea shop Teavana.

Other retailers joining the lineup include Planet Funk, Bare Escentuals, Hollister, Guess, GAPkids, BabyGAP/Maternity and Solstice.

The renovation is taking place in three phases. A 650-seat food court opens in May, followed by the opening of the outdoor promenade in the fall. The interiors were also renovated with wrought-iron chandeliers, monumental columns and stone flooring.

Existing tenants in the 1.3 million-square-foot center include Macy’s Women, Macy’s Men and JCPenney. —Robert McAllister
