American Apparel Tops Online

While many fashion retailers have lagged in online advertising, Los Angeles–based American Apparel ranked No. 1—with 483 million ads in April—among apparel retailers, according to a recent survey by ComScore Inc. that was based on the Reston, Va.–based research company’s Ad Metrix service. Other apparel retailers on the list included L.L. Bean, Lane Bryant, Nordstrom, Spiegel, Giorgio Armani, Levi Strauss & Co., Nike and Skechers. American Apparel placed ads on search engines and retail and social networking sites, including My Space, Facebook, Photobucket, Yahoo, Google, Amazon and eBay.
