Guess Green Promotes Conservation Message

Guess by Marciano has introduced Guess Green, a line of organic cotton garments that will also carry a message aimed at educating consumers about conservation.

Guess Green features jeans, T-shirts and tank tops made from organic cotton. The products were introduced this summer to select Guess stores throughout North America. Ten percent of proceeds of denim products will be donated to the Environmental Media Association, which works with the entertainment industry to educate and inspire consumers to become active in conservation and the environment.

Guess Green jeans retail for $178 and are available in boot cuts. They will feature organic cotton back patches and pocketing as well as interior waistbands. The washes have been simplified to minimize chemical usage.

Tees are retailing for $39, and women’s tanks are $29. All products are labeled Guess Green and are accompanied by EMA logos. All hangtags are made from recycled paper and soy-based ink. Customers who spend $100 or more receive free reusable Guess Green tote bags.

“In order to protect the long-term health of the planet, while encouraging a more environmental responsibility throughout the industry, we are minimizing our own impact and continuing to offer trend-setting styles,” said company Chief Executive Officer Paul Marciano in a statement announcing the new line. —Robert McAllister
