D&G's Antidote to the Holiday Blues

Just when you thought there was no room for flash and fabulous style in the tough 2008 holiday season, iconic fashion house Dolce Gabbana came to the rescue with its new DG flagship boutique, located at 147 N. Robertson Blvd. in Los Angeles. A red-carpet gala was held for the store debut on Dec. 15, injecting some celebrity sizzle into a dour time.

Celebs such as Golden Globe nominee Kevin Connolly hit the party. Also seen were actors Josh Brolin, Bijou Phillips, Leelee Sobieski, Sanaa Lathan, Gabrielle Union, Taber Schroeder and Taryn Manning. Just for celebrity’s sake, also attending were Nicky Hilton, Nicole Richie and Lauren Conrad.

They partied in a 6,800-square-foot space outfitted with burgundy carpets and walls lined with chrome and a highly polished steel called super mirror. When light hits the super mirror material, it gives an illusion that the merchandise hanging from its shiny surface is floating, according to a DG representative.

The new store features fashions for both men and women. However, the collections for the opposite sexes can be as exclusive as the fashions. There is a separate entrance for the men’s section of the store, as well as separate VIP lounges for male and female celebs.

The Robertson store will offer DG’s runway fashions as well as pieces exclusive to the store. The design house did not anticipate building any more DG stores in the

United States in the near future, according to a company representative. Also, look forward to more soirees here. The store’s outside patio was designed for party crowds.
