$10K Fashion Scholarship to Be Awarded at CTIA Show

Designers who have a knack for incorporating technology into fashion could win a $10,000 scholarship.

The winning design, part of the 3rd Annual Fashion in Motion Scholarship Award, will be chosen at the April 1–3 CTIA Wireless 2008 trade show in Las Vegas. The show features the latest wireless products from around the world.

The winner’s creation will also be showcased during a runway show held at the Las Vegas Convention Center featuring the latest wireless devices, accessories, technical textiles, smart fabrics and fashion. The idea is to combine wireless technology with fashion to produce a futuristic, innovative vision or concept of wearable technology. Designs can be submitted in finished or prototype format. All entries will be judged by a panel of technology and fashion-industry leaders. Entries will be judged on innovation and creativity, viability, applicability to culture and lifestyle, and fashion and style.

Last year’s scholarship was awarded to Ozan Cakmakci from the University of Central Florida for his eyeglass-based display design. The deadline for entries is Feb. 15. For more information, contact Bonnie Knight at bknight@ctia.org. —Robert McAllister
