MAGIC Moves to Three-Day Format in August

MAGIC is getting more concentrated.

In August, the giant trade show in Las Vegas will move to a three-day format.

The show—including MAGIC, WWDMAGIC, MAGIC Kids, Sourcing at MAGIC, Project Global Trade Show and Pooltradeshow—will run Aug. 25–27.

The move was in response to buyer and exhibitor requests for a shorter show, according to Advanstar Communications, the parent company of the MAGIC Marketplace.

“Both exhibitors and buyers told us that a three-day show would allow for a more costefficient, time-sensitive and effective use of their resources,” said Chris DeMoulin, executive vice president of Advanstar’s Fashion Group and president of MAGIC International.

For the February show, show organizers dropped its opening-night party in favor of three market-specific events for the men’s, women’s and streetwear categories. Organizers also will host a new-buyer seminar for first-time attendees as well as regional meetand- greet events for exhibitors and retailers. And the show will continue to host its President’s Club and Buyer’s Suite. —Alison A. Nieder
