Lycra Chief Dies

Steve McCracken, the former president of Lycra Worldwide, died Feb. 7 in Toledo, Ohio, from stomach cancer. He was 54. As head of the Lycra spandex business in Europe from 1988 to 1992, he doubled Lycra Worldwide’s volume to almost $2 billion as part of DuPont Inc. After serving for five years as president of Lycra Worldwide, from 1998 to 2003, he built up the Lycra business to a $3.5 billion operation. From April 2003 to January 2004, he was president and chief executive of the Invista Inc. textile business. McCracken is survived by his wife, Judy; three daughters a son; his mother; and a sister.
