Hudson Launches Corporate-Relocation Consultancy

Larry Hudson, a former leasing executive with the Gerry Building and the California Mart (now called the California Market Center), has launched a real estate consultancy aimed at helping the fashion industry and other companies relocate their businesses.

Los Angeles–based LD Hudson Ltd. handles all the logistics of moving a business, including reinstallation of telecommunications and information-technology equipment such as servers, networks, computers, peripherals, etc., to provide for a seamless transition to a new location.

“You leave your old business location on Friday and move into a new one on Monday without any headaches. The worst thing for companies is to move to a new location where the phones aren’t working or have computer problems,” said Hudson, who was the director of leasing for the CalMart, as well as the former director of asset management for Santa Monica, Calif.–based real estate company MJW Investments, the former owner of the Gerry Building.

In his previous positions, Hudson helped move a lot of fashion-industry tenants from various buildings.

“In some ways, this is similar to what I did at the Gerry Building in that you hold people’s hands to help them move in without any hitches,” he said. “What’s always been missing in this equation of relocation is one point of contact.”

Hudson works with leading vendors in the fields of telecommunications, information technology, tenant improvement, space/furniture planning and others to assist in relocations. The company is equipped to move companies from a few to several hundred employees in California and the other Western states. Fees are structured based on the size of the project. Hudson said the cost invested in a smooth relocation outweighs the downtime that could result from problematic moves. For more information, e-mail larry@ldhudson.com.
