Dial M

The New MartSuite 715(213) 627-1357

The Dial M showroom is a New Mart original.

Showroom owner Margaret H. Chevedden has operated her wholesale business from the 1,200-square-foot, sun-filled space for 19 years.

Chevedden carries a mix of lines she calls “classic with a little bit of edge.”

“It’s not ultra contemporary and it’s definitely not misses,” she said. The lines she carries have a “timelessness to them.”

Dial M carries several California lines, including Los Angeles–based Om Girl, Roam, Oramomi and Postella and San Francisco–based sweater line MargaretO’Leary and Chaiken Profile, the essentials division of designer Julie Chaiken’s signature line. The showroom also carries New York–based Anni Kuan and two European lines, Swiss knit collection Repeat and German denim and trousers line Cambio.

One of Chevedden’s newest additions to the showroom is Roam, a recently launched sister line to Los Angeles–based Om Girl, which Chevedden has carried for about 10 years. Om Girl is a yoga-inspired lifestyle line that sells to yoga studios, resort and spa shops, department stores, and boutiques. Roam is “more sophisticated in its appeal,” Chevedden said, describing it as “If you go away for the weekend, this is what you would take.” Now in its second full season, the collection includes everything from casual tees and dressier knits to lightweight denim in more-tailored silhouettes.

Originally a young contemporary collection, Postella was recently redesigned with a more-sophisticated customer in mind. The collection includes novelty silk-printed dresses and tops wholesale priced from $46 to $89.

Oramomi is a collection of sublimation-printed tees and dresses. Designer Walker Rollins gives the bodies unusual architectural details and then prints the front and back of each piece with original designs.

Anni Kuon’s tailored separates are made with European fabrics, giving each piece a luxe look. “She has the most amazing eye for fabrics,” Chevedden said, describing the collection as “a European look at a more-gentle price.” Wholesale prices range from $55 for some of the bottoms up to $185 for a coat.—Alison A.
