Joey Showroom

The Joey showroom opened two years ago in a compact space that covered no more than 1,200 square feet. Since then it has experienced a few growth spurts.

With its most recent expansion six months ago, the showroom now covers 4,000 square feet to handle its 13 lines, which include Modern Amusement, Matt & Nat, Black Halo and Pegah Anvarian.

With the larger showroom came a head-to-toe remodel by Flow Modern Design, located in West Hollywood, Calif., giving the place a mid-century air that goes well with the high ceilings and large windows covered in gray curtains.

“We really wanted it to feel like a boutique where you feel like you’re shopping in a store that you love,” said Jake Deutsch, who co-owns the showroom with Joey Giuntoli. Deutsch is also an emergency-room doctor at Hackensack University Medical Center and appears asa medical expert on CNN.

Orange is the showroom’s signature color, splashed on the walls and the floors. It is seen in the geometric wallpaper and on the floor, where a wide stripe looks like a runway. Mannequins dressed in clothing designed by the different labels in the showroom look as if they are parading down the catwalk.

Large, round pillars separate the showroom into mini-showrooms for the different collections. At the back is a comfy lounge area with black Barcelona chairs and a gray couch.

The first Joey showroom opened four years ago in the Meat-Packing District of New York, but the owners felt they needed a large West Coast presence to sell their lines across the country.

They chose the Cooper Design Space because it was one of the cool, happening spots in the Los Angeles Fashion District. —Deborah Belgum
