L.A. Fashion Week Fall '08: Pussycat Dolls...shhh By Robin Antin

The Pussycat Dolls brought Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in Culver City, Calif, to a dramatic close with a sexy lingerie burlesque show and concert for a celebrity-filled front row, which included Quincy Jones and P. Diddy.

Robin Antin, creator of the Pussycat Dolls, said it was a natural progression to launch the Pussycat Dollshellip;.shhh By Robin Antin lingerie collection. With hit records, two hit reality shows, and a Las Vegas lounge under her belt, the choreographer cum marketing guru has turned the burlesque troupe into a brand. The collection was inspired by the styling of the original stage-show costumes, four of which Antin presented in the show. “I wanted to show everyone where it started and kind of where we are today,” she said. “I was inspired by so many different genres of music and fashion and film, and that’s really what the lingerie is all about,” she explained. The show included sassy sailor girls, vintage pinup looks and a punk rock ’n’ roll edge. Eighties graffiti and leopard prints were sexy and boldly colorful in bright pink, blue and yellow. Sassy yet sweet stripes, ruffles and bows decorated camis, bras and panties. And timeless yet modern pinup styles were flirty and feminine in cream and blush pink.—N. Jayne Seward
