Higgz: Hot Rods and Hanging 10

Surfing and fixing up hot rods were second nature to Jeffrey Higginbotham. So when he started Malibu, Calif.–based fashion line Higgz, he took inspiration from riding waves and cruising in classic cars. Higginbotham and his wife, Katy, create leather appliqueacute;s and complex embroideries based on icons of surfing and hot rodding such as tikis, skulls and even sea creatures such as the octopus.

The art is emblazoned on eight-panel baseball caps, beanies and fedoras, as well as heavy hoodies. Higgz made its debut at the Pooltradeshow Feb. 12–14 in Las Vegas. Higginbotham reported that retailers such as Metropark and Fred Segal Santa Monica made orders for his debut collection. Wholesale price points for hats range from $34 to more than $50. Wholesale price points for hoodies range from $90 to $118.For more information, contact (310) 317-0123 or sales@higgz.com. —Andrew Asch
