Designers Killed in Traffic Accident

Seven7 designers Miguel Rocha and Lisa Santee were killed May 16 in a hit-and-run accident outside of the denim-maker’s Vernon, Calif., headquarters on East Washington Boulevard.

At the time of the accident, Rocha and Santee, both 25, were crossing the street after work at 6:45 p.m. with Dominic Medina, another Seven7 designer. Medina was injured in the accident and remains in intensive care. A fourth person, Michelle Pineda, was almost hit.

The driver of the car, 19-year-old Bryan Calles, was arrested and later released on $50,000 bail, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

“We are like a family here and it does seem like we have lost family members,” said Rachael Barnard, chief operating officer of Seven7. Seven7 is a denim label brought to the United States by Gerard Guez of the Tarrant Apparel Group, whose brands include American Rag and Marisa K. —Erin Barajas
