Law Firm Thelen Dissolves

After 84 years in business, Thelen LLP, an international law firm with offices in Los Angeles; San Francisco; New York; Florshy;ham Park, N.J.; Hartford, Conn.; San Jose, Calif.; Washington, D.C.; and Shanghai, has closed.

On Oct. 18, the firm’s partnership council recommended the first dissolve and formed a committee to assist in the dissolution.The company was founded in San Francisco and grew to include several areas of expertise, including intellectual property, labor and employment, bankruptcy, domestic and international tax, technology and sourcing, energy and utility, corporate finance and commercial litigation, construction, China securities, mergers and acquisitions, and construction and government contracts.

The company has employed about 400 attorneys, according to The Recorder, a daily legal newspaper published in Northern California. Initially, it was expected that Thelen would merge with another firm, but that did not happen. —Alison A. Nieder
