New York Fashion Week Spring '09: Max Azria

NEW YORK—Max Azria stuck to his fashion-meets-function theme for the showing of his Spring/Summer eponymous designer label on Sept. 9 at New York Fashion Week. The look was a clean, pared-down version of the BCBG Max Azria collection he presented earlier in the week. In monochromatic shades of cloud, light mauve, pale blue, sea green and black, the palette had a pure—almost luminescent—quality. Clean, modern shapes were accented with Grecian-style draping and asymmetric lines in luxurious fabrications. Some of the best looks included a beige cotton knit boyshort and cap-sleeve sweater, a gray jumpsuit, and a chic silk georgette gown. Functional accessories—such as ribbed canvas belts and fanny packs with cross straps—accented the look. —N. Jayne Seward
