PAD Offers Free Marker Service

Patternmakers using PAD System now have the option of obtaining free markers through a new online service offered by the company.

Users send graded pattern files or unlaid marker files via e-mail 24/7, and the completed markers are returned in a few minutes. Some exceptions may occur because of the complexity of the patterns, the number of jobs in the queue and network issues.

The markers are returned along with a marker-efficiency report and a mini diagram in PDF format in addition to the main marker file.

The service is available to all registered PAD users. The markers are processed by the New Zealand–based ShapeShifter system, which uses a unique algorithm that can result in savings of 2 percent to 9 percent in fabric when compared with traditional manual methods, according to the company. ShapeShifter was originally invented for the trucking industry to determine the best way to configure multiple-sized packages into cargo areas.
