Flu Forces SIMA to Postpone Baja California Summit

The Surf Industry Manufacturers Association announced it will postpone its 12th annual Surf Summit, scheduled for May 6-9 in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

SIMA cited a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention memo that recommended against all non-essential travel to Mexico, which in recent weeks has seen hundreds of infections and dozens of deaths from the swine flu virus.

According to a SIMA release, the event will be rescheduled for a time when “the situation is better contained and it is safe to travel.” No new dates have been set. —Erin Barajas
