The latest entrant on the Los Angeles Fashion Week calendar, Rock Media, hosted a penthouse soiree at the Renaissance Hotel at Hollywood Highland, to kick off the pre-show run up to its debut event, Rock Fashion Week.

Scheduled to run Oct. 28–31 at Paramount Studios, the event promises to be a mix of runway shows and parties with a Halloween bash on closing night.

Rock Media Principal Scott Rosenblum and President Nicole Purcell played host and hostess at the July 30 party, where guests mingled against a panoramic view of Hollywood.

Among the attendees was Cynthia Ruiz, president of the Los Angeles Department of Public Works and Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s “fashion ambassador.” Also joining the festivities were Jen Egen, Gen Art’s national vice president of marketing and business development; Jen Uner, founder of the Los Angeles Fashion Awards; Rob Greenspan, managing partner for Moss Adams, which sponsors the Moss Adams Fashion Innovator Award; stylists George Blodwell and Brenda Cooper; runway show producer Shannon Davidson and LookBookLA.com's Felix Salzman, as well as several members of the media, including Los Angeles magazine’s Laurie Pike, the Los Angeles Times’ Booth Moore and Adam Tschorn, California Apparel News’ Molly Rhodes and N. Jayne Seward (and me!).

Rosenblum and Purcell are still mum on the names on their lineup. The two also produce Rock Media events in NewYork and Miami, which blend film, music and fashion. The company last February produced a three-day in Los Angeles, called Haven. Held at the same time as the Academy Awards, Haven featured a runway show that included Russell Simmons Argyleculture, Born Uniqorn and Yansi Fugel.

Rock Fashion Week will fall at the end of a month of fashion events in Los Angeles. The California Market Center will host its Majors Market for department- and chain-store buyers Oct. 5–7. Gen Art is slated to kick of Los Angeles Fashion Week on Oct. 9 followed by events hosted by BOXeight, Downtown L.A. Fashion Week, L.A. Fashion Weekend and Muse L.A. (formerly called CoLA Fashion Week). The runway events will overlap with the Los Angeles Fashion Market, which is set for Oct. 16–20.
