Cham Korean Bistro: Denim & Dining

Kimmy Song at Cham

!iT Jeans is known for its young contemporary fit, premium-denim styling and its affable chief executive, Kimmy Song.

Song recently played hostess at a tasting for a new restaurant—Cham Korean Bistro—she opened in Pasadena, Calif.

If you are lucky enough to get an invitation to the !iT Jeans headquarters in Vernon, Calif., I recommend scheduling your visit at lunch time, when Song treats her employees and guests to an organic meal prepared by the company’s in-house chef, who previously worked for A.O.C.

Song has plans to open a restaurant on the !iT Jeans campus by the end of the year, but in the meantime, she found an available space in Pasadena and opened Cham.

With Ricardo Carrera-Lowe, !iT Jeans’ AVP brand director, manning the cash register, guests dropped by for two days of tastings at Cham prior to the grand opening.

Located at 851 Cordova St., Cham features tasty fresh fare, such as kim-chi, bibimbap and bulgogi. There’s plenty of veggie and non-veggie options, and salads include an apple kim-chi salad and a watermelon salad with tomatoes, feta and a lime-mint vinaigrette. I stopped by for one of the pre-opening tastings and had the ssam wrap garden platter and a tofu pocket with spicy tuna and pea shoot. My lunch companions had the spicy crispy rice cake and vegetables—and thoughtfully shared with the group.

The restaurant has already received several favorable reviews (look here, here and here).

!It Jeans continues to make fashion headlines as well. The company recently formed a partnership with premium-denim brand Kasil.
