Korean Products and Tradition on Display at Upcoming Event

Korean manufacturers will be on display at an upcoming event at the Korean Cultural Center in Los Angeles.

“Beyond Tradition: Han (Korean) Textile Exhibition Fashion Show,” running Aug. 20–24, will highlight fashion and home products designed to incorporate traditional Korean images, including Korean characters and symbols.

Hosted by the Han Fashion Project Team of the Dong-eui University in Busan, Korea, the exhibition features Hooga brand products, including women’s apparel, childrenswear, accessories and bathrobes. Busan is the second-largest city in Korea and a sister city to Los Angeles.

Accessories such as ties, scarves and purses feature traditional Korean patterns, and the childrenswear features traditional motifs that symbolize longevity and good luck. Home décor items include hand-tufted silk carpet and silk wallpaper.

All exhibitors are new to the U.S. market, according to Jean Chung, president of Better Communication and Consulting, which organized the event with the Research Institute for Korea. The exhibition is open daily between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. An opening-night reception will be held, and a light dinner and beverages will be served.
