Top Executive Leaves Perry Ellis

Perry Ellis International announced that one of its principal executives is leaving.

In a statement released Aug. 5, the company said that Paul Rosengard, group president of Perry Ellis and premium brands, was stepping down after four years in the job to pursue other interests.

In a statement, George Feldenkreis, the company’s chairman and chief executive, praised Rosengard for guiding Perry Ellis through a difficult period of retail consolidations, major changes in the competitive landscape and the most difficult consumer environment since the Great Depression of the 1930s.“We wish Paul the best in his new endeavors,” Feldenkreis said.

Following Rosengard’s departure, Shawna Smith-Hogan will be the interim head of the division until a successor is selected. She will be reporting directly to Oscar Feldenkreis, the company’s president and chief operating officer. Smith-Hogan has been the executive vice president of sales for Perry Ellis Collection since July 2008.

Prior to taking one of the top positions at Perry Ellis, Rosengard worked for Randa Corp., a vertically integrated manufacturer and distributor of men’s accessories. He was the company’s executive vice president before leaving for Perry Ellis.

Perry Ellis is a Miami-based corporation whose brands include C&C California, Laundry by Shelli Segal, Gotcha, Girl Star, Jantzen, Original Penguin by Munsingwear, Cubavera and Farah.—Deborah Belgum
