Gilt Fuse Hosts 'Post Grad' Party

The Gilt Groupe and Lucky magazine hosted a premiere screening for the new film “Post Grad,” starring Alexis Bledel, at the Mann’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

The party also coincided with the launch of Gilt Fuse, Gilt Groupe’s new private-sales site featuring hip, contemporary brands.

Gilt founders Alexis Maybank and Alexandra Wilkis Wilson were on hand for the after party, held right across the street at the Roosevelt Hotel. The post-college graduate experience that Bledel’s character endures in the film especially touched Wilson and Maybank—the Gilt Groupe was started as Maybank and Wilson’s own post-grad project.

Wilson and Maybank attended business school together, and the longtime friends combined their backgrounds—fashion for Wilson and web for Maybank—when creating Gilt.

“The whole New York sample scene was inspiration for the business,” Maybank said. “It’s an exciting retail model. People are logging in right at the start—it’s pandemonium, it’s high emotion. I feel like that when I go on to shop.”

Wilson and Maybank joined the rest of the partygoers—which included Decades owner Cameron Silver and Bledel—to celebrate the evening. A digital photo booth from MVS Studio, which projected pictures onto a giant wall, was a hit. It spurred a lot of fun, impromptu photo shoots, and the computerized printer provided souvenirs to take home, complete with a thank you from Gilt, Lucky and “Post Grad.”
