For Miu Miu, Damask is the New Black

South Coast Plaza’s Miu Miu boutique

Many pundits say the only way to win in this fashion game is to stand out from the crowd. And that’s what the venerable fashion house Prada intends to do with the store design of its Miu Miu division. Its new prototype was recently debuted in Costa Mesa’s South Coast Plaza. An ornate damask pattern colored with a bright green graced Miu Miu store walls. Juxtaposed off of the green walls were the floors colored with a golden hue.

The green damask and gold floor look also will grace the Miu Miu store that will open in St. Moritz this month. Also expect green damask in upcoming Las Vegas Miu Miu store, which is scheduled to open in 2010.

A gala party was produced Dec. 3 for the South Coast Plaza Miu Miu. The soiree featured sales of the sequined Stage bag, which was made exclusively for the 2,800-square-foot South Coast Plaza store. The Stage bag retails for $995, and a portion of sales from the bag and other items during the opening weekend went to support the Harvesters, a nonprofit that raises funds for The Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County.
