To Shop (and Spot Fashionable Celebs) Is Divine

Divine Design—the annual fashion and interiors fund-raiser for Project Angel Food—is always a fashionably good time. I’m always up for shopping for my two favorite things (fashion and home deacute;cor)—all in the name of a very worthy cause. Project Angel Food has been delivering meals for 20 years to people suffering from life-threatening illnesses. That works out to more than 6 million meals, according to Margaret Steel, Project Angel Food’s chief executive officer.

The annual fund-raiser kicked off yesterday with VIP shopping at the former Robinsons May building in Beverly Hills and a gala dinner at the Beverly Hilton, where honorees included “Mad Men” actress Christina Hendricks; the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s Steven Kolb; Dorothy Kneedler Lawenda, co-owner of the Kneedler-Fauchere interior design showroom; and Barbie.

To celebrate Barbie’s status as Divine Design’s Fashion Icon, the event included a runway show of Barbie-inspired fashion featuring the work of several of California’s best-known designers. The show also featured Barbie-worthy creations designed by Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising students. In all, there was a whole lot of pink on the runway.
