OptiTex Introduces Avatar for Childrenswear

OptiTex has added a 3-D mannequin, or avatar, named Tim to its growing stable of virtual tools for the sewn-products industry.

Tim complements Adam, an older male avatar, and can be modified to grow up to become an 18-year-old. The virtual figures are used as part of OptiTex’s 3-D Runway software, which simulates the human form so patternmakers and merchandisers can virtually make adjustments and speed up the pre-production process.

Designers also use the software to stage virtual fashion shows without having to create physical samples.

OptiTex has also refined the Adam avatar by introducing dynamic shoulder pads to fill in and create varied slopes for designs as well as supplementary poses for accurate fittings. The Morphs Dialog function—which offers choices such as muscle-tone definition, belly shape and numerous postures—now supports the ability to manage props such as shoes and socks in a 3-D view.
