Confidence Down

After a brief rally in November, consumer confidence plunged to an all-time low, according to the Conference Board, the New York–based research organization that conducts the Consumer Confidence Survey of 5,000 U.S. households. The Consumer Confidence Index fell to 38 in December from 44.7 in November. The Board’s Present Situation Index dropped to 29.4 in December from 42.3 the previous month. And the Expectations Index dropped to 43.8 from 46.2 in November.
