Marketing in My Mind

Bluetooth advertising is coming to L.A.-area malls.

The Los Angeles Times technology blog reports that Pleasanton, Calif.–based marketing firm Intera Group is working on bringing Bluetooth-enabled advertising to five Macerich-owned malls in Southern California.

Visitors to the malls will receive special offers and coupons directly on their Bluetooth devices. Shoppers will receive free movie trailers, promotions, and gift card specials from stores.

Don't want to be bombarded with ads at the mall? Visitors can opt out by turning their headsets off. The participating malls are the Westside Pavilion in Los Angeles, The Oaks in Thousand Oaks, Los Cerritos Center in Cerritos, Lakewood Center in Lakewood and Stonewood Center in Downey.
