Gap Goes to Thailand
San Francisco–based retail giant Gap Inc. struck a deal with Armin Systems Ltd. to expand the Gap brand into Thailand. The agreement calls for Armin to open Gap stores in Thailand beginning in 2010. Through franchise partners, Gap has opened 100 Gap and 34 Banana Republic franchise stores in 17 countries. The company has also struck deals to open Gap and Banana Republic franchise stores in Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Romania, Egypt and Israel.
