True Love & False Idols = Real Swimwear

Compton, Calif.–based streetwear maker True Love & False Idols is known for T-shirts and hoodies featuring its intricately layered screenprints and graphics. For Summer, the brand is taking its street vibe to the beach with a capsule collection of boardshorts bearing colorful graphics mixed with designer Alex Erdmann’s hand-drawn tattoo- and graffiti-inspired art. Erdmann, who grew up in Los Angeles’ gritty Venice Beach neighborhood, knows his way around a boardshort. The TLFI version features a super-stretch four-ply polyester/spandex blend with a waterproof back pocket and a cell-phone pocket on the side. The collection has so far been picked up by mall retailer Metropark and will retail for $74. —Erin Barajas
