Miami Swim Fashion Week Cruise 2010: Cia.Maritima

TThe renowned Brazilian beachwear line Cia.Maritima returned to Miami to debut its latest collection on July 19, the closing night of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim. The label, which launched in 1990, will celebrate its 20th anniversary next year. According to Creative Director Benny Rosset, special plans, including a book, are already in the works to celebrate the milestone event. The collection is known for beautifully fluid fabrics and innovative but wearable silhouettes. For Cruise 2010, the collection merged print inspiration from the Greek islands with classic silhouettes of Madeleine Vionnet and the daring cuts of Versace. Sea shades of turquoise, emerald and royal blue merged with coral, white, brown and black for a sophisticated palette. Styles ranged from sexy bikinis and printed maillots to simple tunics and draped Grecian-goddess dresses. Standouts included a flowing white bat-wing jumpsuit, a Troia-print criss-cross monokini and a plunging one-piece with an artful Greek belt motif. —N. Jayne Seward
