American Apparel Exec to Speak on RFID

Zander Livingston, American Apparel’s director of RFID (radio-frequency identification) will present the keynote address at the fourth annual RFID in Fashion conference and exhibition, being held Aug. 12–13 at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.

RFID uses wireless technology to track merchandise at the warehouse and store levels in order to help replenish stock and track shipments.

American Apparel has deployed the technology in several of its stores around the country, resulting in improved inventory-tracking rates of up to 98 percent and sales increases of up to 15 percent.

Livingston will explain how and where the technology is being used and how it is providing a return on the company’s investment.

The conference will feature other case studies presented by apparel, footwear and accessories retailers and suppliers that have deployed the technology in their operations.

RFID Journal and the American Apparel & Footwear Association are producing the event. Avery Dennison is the main sponsor. For more information, visit www.apparelandfootwear.org. —Robert McAllister
