Robinsons-May Joins Irvine Spectrum Center

Robinsons-May, a division of May Dept. Stores, will open a 140,000-square-foot store at the Irvine Spectrum Center’s expansion project in Southern California, according to an announcement made by Spectrum Center owner the Irvine Company last week.

Designed for non-mall locations, the two-story unit will feature an open shopping layout with merchandise selections for men, women, teens, children and home.

The Spectrum Center’s latest phase of development, scheduled to open in fall 2002, will incorporate a total of 320,000 square feet of mostly retail stores, said Keith Eyrich, president of the Irvine Company’s retail properties division.

Eyrich said the expansion will complement the more entertainment-oriented focus at the six-year-old Spectrum Center, whose stores include Ann Taylor Loft, Juxtapose, Hot Topic and Vans.

Headquartered in North Hollywood, Calif., Robinsons-May operates 56 stores in Nevada, Arizona and Southern California, including those at the Brea Mall, Fashion Island in Newport Beach and Main Place in Santa Ana. —Nola Sarkisian-Miller
