New Resources Guide: Aryn K.

The young contemporary line was founded by the husband-and-wife team of John and Kay Kim, who own the volume-driven brand Bizz. Since its launch last year, Aryn K. has expanded its initial offerings of item tops and dresses to include pants, skirts and jackets that build into a collection-type offering for Fall.

“Most companies are either collection-driven or item-driven, but Aryn K. has designed the line so that both categories are covered,” said Tommy Choi, national sales/marketing manager. “There are related pieces as well as styles that can be bought as items.”

Feminine pieces mix unexpected elements such as a dress that looks like a top and dress layered together or the combination of cotton and silk fabric on a single item. Interesting pleating, tucking, ruching, patternwork and embellishment on silk, chiffon, Tencel and textured jacquard tops and dresses and tropical wool jackets give the line a contemporary-styled look at a young contemporary price.

The line has been sold to Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, Nordstrom’s t.b.d. section, and specialty stores such as Pookie and Sebastian in New York.—Rhea Cortado
