New Resources Guide: Denim Gods

The husband-and-wife team of Anthony Quiroz and Deborah Ceballos takes inspiration from vintage jeans for Denim Gods, their new line of premium denim. The couple took a unique approach to the denim market, producing their own custom patterned denim and sewing it into a variety of retro-inspired silhouettes for men and women. Quiroz and Ceballos took inspiration from a pair of patterned jeans Ceballos wore as a child and kept as a keepsake.

The brand, which is heavier on women’s offerings, launched for Spring 2009 with a collection that includes a five-pocket jean, high-waist sailor pants and low-waist trouser styles. A tuxedo-style vest, a zip-up jacket and two Chino-styles jeans round out the debut collection. Men’s styles include two versions of a five-pocket jean. “We’re not following trends with Denim Gods,” Quiroz said. “Our fits are classic and modern, but what really sets us apart is our pattern and weave combinations.” The brand’s fabrics are made to order overseas, but production and development for the brand is done domestically. Retailers include Jigsaw and Slave in Los Angeles.—Erin Barajas
