Meister to Receive Friendly House Award

Womenswear designer David Meister will be honored May 17 with Friendly House’s Vision Award during the charity’s annual “Fashion for Life” fund-raising event.

Friendly House, a residential program for women recovering from drug and alcohol addictions, runs two residences in California and has sheltered more than 6,500 women.

The “Fashion for Life” event will be held at the California Market Center’s Fashion Theater and will feature presentations from Meister’s eponymous line as well as other California-based designers, including Trina Turk, Single and Ina Soltani.

“It is an honor to be receiving the Fashion for Life Vision Award. I am a big believer in giving back and understand how important it is to enable and empower people who are trying to change their lives for the better,” Meister said. “Friendly House embodies this philosophy and accepts everyone for who they are and recognizes the fact that in order to help themselves, they need a support system. Friendly House provides women in need with the essentials—a home, food and treatment. It is a privilege to support and be a part of raising awareness and funds so they can continue their mission.”
