Suit Sit-in

On May 11, a group of about 500 workers for Chicago-based manufacturer Hartmarx—makers of Hart, Schaffner & Marx suits and other apparel brands—hosted a rally and sit-in in Chicago to encourage support of their jobs. The workers are worried that Hartmarx lender Wells Fargo & Co. will force the suit maker to shutter their facility, according to a statement released by Workers United, a newly formed union representing workers in the laundry, food service, hospitality, gaming, apparel, textiles manufacturing and distribution industries. Hartmarx filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in January.
