L.A. Fashion Week Spring 2010: Dilascia's Bakery and AMPD

The club crowd mixed with the fashion types in the courtyard of Hollywood nightclub Le Deux for the Spring ’10 runway show for men’s label Dilascia’s Bakery and denim brand AMPD.

The Oct. 16 show had a fashionably late start, which gave the guests plenty of time to secure a prime spot for viewing—the fashions and each other.

Showroom owner Patrick Dilascia launched Dilascia’s Bakery earlier this year, and for the runway show, he and co-designer Sarah Wilkinson showed an expanded offering of casual looks with sexy geek-chic edge—thanks to bow ties on chains, suspenders and horn-rim glasses taped at the bridge. Looks on the runway included “denim alternative” distressed twill pants with gingham trim, washed printed tees with saucy sayings (“Masterbaker,” “Eat Pie!”) and woven shirts in preppy plaids.

Dilascia’s Young Blood showroom, located in the Cooper Design Space, also carries AMPD, which stands for American Made Premium Denim. Designed by AMPD President Tony Esparza, the men’s and women’s looks had a rock ’n’ roll edge that included distressed details and hip bone–grazing cuts.

Dark denim jeans got a jolt of color with vintage prints peeking out from the front pockets. And Esparia channeled Jasper Johns for his jeans and jackets printed with American flags and stencil letters.—Alison A. Nieder
