Williams Promoted at HMX
Chicago-based HMX Group, the company formerly known as Hartmarx Corp., promoted Doug Williams from president and chief operating officer to chief executive officer. He will also serve as a company director. Williams joined the company last month. “Our intent when we brought Doug on board was for him to assume this expanded role as soon as possible,” said Nitin Kasliwal, chairman of HMX Group and vice chairman of SKNL, India’s largest textile and apparel company. “He has hit the ground running and is the right player to help us face the challenges of this turnaround in a difficult retail environment.” Williams is taking over for Ajay Khaitan, who has been serving as chief executive officer and vice chairman since early August, when HMX Group subsidiary HMX LLC purchased the assets of Hartmarx Corp. Williams comes to the company from Polo Ralph Lauren Corp., where he held executive positions in sales, licensing, international business development, global manufacturing and new business, most recently as group president. HMC Group’s brands include Hickey Freeman, Hart Schaffner Marx, Bobby Jones, Coppley, Simply Blue, Exclusively Misook and Monarchy.
