L.A. Fashion Week Spring 2010: Le Chapeau by Alakazia

Like other hat lines, Le Chapeau by Alakazia offers fedoras, baseball caps and peaked caps. But Los Angeles–based designer Alakazia put his own stamp on them with looks that seemed to embrace every color of the spectrum. The designer presented his Spring 2010 collection in a 95-look show that debuted on Oct. 14 at Downtown L.A. Fashion Week at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA.

The collection included green and gold fedoras, pink fedoras with rose-like prints, and peaked caps with a brown alligator-leather sheen. Also making appearances were aviator caps, fur hats and top hats with an elegantly crushed look.

This milliner’s imagination also drifted to stagecraft. During the fashion show, his models took part in vignettes such as tango dancing and tossing a ball. Alakazia even got in the act by walking a big French poodle down the runway.—Andrew Asch
