L.A. Fashion Week Spring 2010: MartinMartin

Avant garde fashion took a step on the runway with the MartinMartin fashion show Oct. 14, locatedat Downtown L.A. Fashion Week at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA.

Some of the show’s 42 looks featured loose fitting skirts for men. Other looks were puffy-looking zoave-style pants for men and women. Male and female models wore blonde wigs, each with a skullcap–section left mysteriously bald.

For the label’s creative director Eric Martin, who designs the collection with his wife Diane Moss-Martin, the show was the latest report in his vision of joining old world tailoring techniques with avant garde and goth inspired styles. Other looks included draped dresses for women, canvas fronted jackets and sweaters made out of sheer materials.—Andrew Asch
