Miner49er Opens in Hong Kong

Miner49er store in San Clemente, Calif.

Miner49er is a retail concept on the move. The San Clemente, Calif.-based boutique will open a 2,500-square-foot store in HongKong’s Tsim Sha Shui district on Nov. 18, this just one year after it opened its first boutique in its hometown in November 2008.

Miner49er partner Brian Robbins, 42, said the company's second location will debut in Asia because the fashion business is buzzing there. Miner49er partner Charles Lam is scouting real estate in Chinese cities such as Shanghai. They also plan to open a flagship store in Los Angeles in 2010.

Business with a global view is part of Miner49er's DNA. Lam keeps an office in Montreal. From 1999 to 2005, Robbins worked as the International Apparel Brand Manager of Orange County eyewear and fashion brand Oakley.

The stores will sell two labels. Its Denim Design Lab is an American workwear-inspired lab with retail price points of $180 to $285. Bzen is a denim and contemporary label with retail price points of $60 to $285.
